November 7, 2004
It's been a quiet weekend, up until this evening. I've been messing around with some code. As usual, the change that I think is going to be easy turns out to take mucho effort, and although I got the functionality going that I was working on, it was really a red herring. As in, nice to have, but not contributing to the end result of the software...
So after a hard day's coding, I went up to the Java Cafe and Brew Pub (yes, that's really its name!) to say hello to Scott Andrew, the guy I originally stole the CSS for my other site from.
Things here in Sacramento are far away without a car. I called a cab at 6 PM to get me up there, and walked in to spot Scott sitting there by himself. I grabbed a beer and introduced myself.
Scott is doing a "West Coast Tour", his first ever. And judging by the response he got from the audience tonight, certainly not his last...
After the show, I was attempting to call a cab to get home. Maybe I should get a cell phone. I ended up throwing in the towel after trying to get the public phone to work, and ended up walking home...
How peaceful was that? Hardly a car on the road, and walking past all the "rural" houses here. The moon shining though the trees... ahhh.
Too bad life will interfere tomorrow.
