After the Battle of Hamel in the First World War, the then French Prime Minister, Georges Clemenceau visited the Australian troops to thank them in person. He said
"When the Australians came to France, the French people expected a great deal of you. We knew that you would fight a real fight, but we did not know that from the very beginning you would astonish the whole continent.
I shall go back to-morrow and say to my countrymen: I have seen the Australians. I have looked in their faces. I know that these men will fight alongside of us again until the cause for which we are all fighting is safe for us and for our children.”
Lest we forget.

We went to Limani Seafood Restaurant for lunch today. I've been wanting to go here for quite some time. Years and years ago the building housed another seafood restaurant, and I remember it as being kitsch-y with nets and lobster pots. Well, Limani is nothing like that.
The restaurant is located above a little cafe right on the edge of Narrabeen Lagoon and has both indoor and outdoor (on the balcony) seating.
The food was pretty darn good. We ordered a plate of garlic bread to share, but I avoided the garlic butter, and just ate the bread, which was absolutely fantastic. I then started with the salt and pepper squid, which while tasty, was a little bit oily from the deep fryer. Perhaps the temperature was a tad low? Never mind, it was very nice.
For the main, I had the grilled hiramasa kingfish fillet, with a salad of red radish, fennel, oranges, mint, fetta and honey mustard dressing. Fantastic! I'd go back just to eat this dish again.
The restaurant has an offer of a free bottle of wine on your next visit if you fill out a comment form. As a couple in the party had been to the restaurant a couple of weeks before, we got a bottle of De Bortoli Willowglen Semillon Chardonnay, which was very drinkable.
I skipped dessert and just went for coffee. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon.
