I am an avid road cyclist. I think it is the only thing that keeps me sane on occasions. When I first came to the States to work, I lived in the San Fernando Valley which is a part of Los Angeles. There I fell in with an evil bunch of reprobates known as the San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club. I'm only kidding of course. They are a great bunch of people who made a lonely Aussie very welcome. If you are a cyclist in that area, you couldn't do better for a club.
Sacramento was a pretty bike friendly town, but gee it was flat. Additionally, as the population is a lot smaller than LA, there was nowhere near the number of cyclists.
You can click here for a detailed map of The American River Bike Trail, one the nicest things about Sacramento.
Even though I didn't have a club in Sacramento, I somehow managed to motivate myself to get out and train.
In March 2002, I did the Solvang Century outside of LA and did a writeup of the ride for my bike club's newsletter.

| Campagnolo | The only choice in bike components. Forget that Japanese bunch. |
